Asus Republic of Gamers G51J 3D Vision Gaming Laptop Review

asus-g51j-3d-laptop-review

Asus G51J 3D is actually the first gaming laptop that is intended for stereoscopic 3D gaming using the 3D Vision active shutter glasses, although you can still play in 2D mode at 120Hz without any problems if you wish to. Asus did very well in designing a very nice and attractive looking laptop on the outside with an extensive set of features and quite powerful hardware inside. Along with the laptop you also get a nice bagpack to easily carry it everywhere with you along with all the additional accessories and these include not only the bundled 3D Vision glasses, but also a gaming mouse in the form of Razer Abyssus, so you can actually be ready for gaming on the go and in S3D too…

 Acer Aspire GD245HQ 120Hz 3D Vision-ready Monitor Review

If you are interested in the new 24-inch Full HD gaming display from Acer that is also 3D Vision compatible (120Hz panel) than you should check watch the unboxing video of the Acer Aspire GD245HQ above and then visit the full review at the 3D Vision Blog where it was put to some extensive testing. In brief the Acer GD245HQ is better designed, better built and performing better than the first generation 120Hz displays from ViewSonic and Samsung. It has an updated list of parameters, offers less ghosting, and although it brings some other new possible issues, in general it is more of a good improvement. If you wanted this to be the perfect and absolutely problem free monitor for stereoscopic 3D gaming, like a lot of people did, you might be a bit disappointed, but that is because we all probably had set too high expectations for it.

Stereoscopic 3D Trailer for the Movie Avatar (720p) HD

avatar-s3d-trailer-player

Shame on James Cameron for not releasing a stereoscopic 3D version of the trailer for Avatar, but just trying to convince us to go watch the movie in 3D by just showing us some “flat” teasers and trailers with scenes from the movie. Luckily now there is at least a stereoscopic 3D version convert from the official trailer of the movie that looks nice, but don’t expect anything to hit you in the face with this one. Converting 2D to Stereoscopic 3D video does not provide the same great results as when shooting the video in S3D and then providing it in that format, but still it is better than plain 2D, so you might as well enjoy the trailer.

The Avatar S3D trailer is encoded in Windows Media Video format in Interlaced format (Field Sequential) so you’ll need to tell the Nvidia 3D Vision Stereoscopic Player to use Interlaced, Left Line First mode when opening the file with aspect ratio of 16:9. You should of course be able to play the video with other respective video players and 3D setups that do support this format, although this 2D to S3D convert was made especially for 3D Vision owners.
